OFFICIAL STORYBOARD

OFFICIAL STORYBOARD Daisy Jackson / 01/04/2022 After having a tutorial with Matt a week ago, it was dicsussed that the storyboard does not have to reflect the whole animation. Instead, it can be used to advice the audience and tell them perhaps a before or after story.  Due to my animation being quite random and weird, I thought it would be best to provide the audience with an explanation with my storyboard. I decided to base my storyboard on the leadup to the fight. Because Pierre was killed by a horse and carriage when crossing the street, I decided to set my environment in a 1990s street centre. I set the scene by making it night time, heavy rain and very few people around. Originally I was going to base the idea in a pub since I loved the pun of a horse walks into a bar but decided not to as this is not where it happened. *NOTE* my original draft did include a bar though. Environments

Environments Daisy Jackson / 21/03/2022 In today's session with Molly and David, we focused on environments. Environments are very important as they help tell the audience more about what is going on. For my own project, the environment was not a main focus as I was creating a 'mix and match' book. However, for my animation, the environment may have a large impact. For my animation currently, I only have a dark grey background. This can be altered, however, I do like it as it is as it adds more focus to what is going on. For today's task, we were given either paint or pens to use. On the board were prompts for various environments that we only had a set amount of time to do. Here are my results:

Creating my storyboard

Creating my storyboard  Daisy Jackson / 18/03/022 Today I decided to brainstorm ideas for a storyboard. This storyboard would be contributing to my introduction to animation module so I had to make sure I understood the concept and the idea I was going for. Originally, my idea was going to be a more scenic animation - focusing on the surroundings and then narrating the death of Marie Curie’s husband Pierre. However, I decided to have a different approach to this idea. Life drawing - session 2

Life drawing - session 2 Daisy Jackson / 15/03/2022 Today was our second session for life drawing where we focused on shadows and colour. For this session, I used a range of soft pastels as well as mixing this with my fine liner brush pen - a great combo!  I enjoyed today's session more than the previous (01/03/2022) as I felt like there was more to draw. I do not like focusing purely on shadows as you are more focused on bold outlines which I found quite boring. Focusing on shadows in a variety of ways in general life drawing is definitely more interesting and experimental.  I definitely love the inclusion of props in both sessions however. This has made everything more interesting and makes you think more deeply about what you are doing! I really enjoyed this session as I have often seen marbling kits and been quite curious about them. I never knew how to marble and am very happy I learned how! These are the results from today:

Reflection

Reflection Daisy Jackson / 14/03/2022 On this blog post I am going to be reflecting on my process of creating my children's book based on my historical figure Marie Curie. What did I do well? I think my research was clear and helpful. I definitely took large amounts of time to research into my historical figure as well as my target audience - children. As well as this, I also looked into children's TV shows (and cartoon shows in general) and looked at how they presented celebrity guests. This helped me to see whether I wanted to make my historical figure recongisable or just include distinguishable features. I then also created a survey which allowed me to understand what my audience wanted - I think I stuck to this feedback quite well. Regarding research, I also looked into other books that focus on mix and matching such as the book 'Farm Animals' by Sophie Corrigan. This definitely helped me understand the layout. CREATING MY BOOK - On going blog post *FINISHED* Daisy Jackson / 11/03/2022 This will be an ongoing blog post so check back to this post to see further updates until my book is finally finished! To begin, I referenced 'Farm Animals by Sophie Corrigan who has greatly inspired my work even with the colour choices (this was weirdly not planned either!). To start, I used a base which was cardboard. I cellotpaged this all together which looked like this: (I reused the cardboard from the original prototype as I really loved the way it turned out). For the official book however, I did modify this and make the spine smaller. This way, the book would close easier (that's the plan anyway).  After this, I then spoke to my Mum for advice as I had no idea how to create the base of the book without gluing materials onto it and making it look 'tacky'. I noticed when gluing paper on, you could see the glue underneath which made creases - I did not like this! This is when my Mum gave me...
