Creating my official character designs
Creating my official character designs

After creating rough designs, my next task was to create the official ones using these as a prompt. I altered a few of the designs while reusing sections.
Here was my prompt piece (for accuracy - 30 squares - 1- squares each):
"I want to sleep, I'll be counting sheep!" - tired
I loved the turnout of this design as it is quite visually striking. I think it would definitely appeal to a child as in comparison to the other pieces, it is extremely vibrant and visually stimulating. I can clearly tell this character is getting ready for bed or is already asleep!"I'm getting rather pale, I'm the colour of a snail!" - pale
Once again, I am very happy with the turnout. The inclusion of the snails (while actually having the skin tone the same colour as the snails included) is very interesting and would stand out to the child. The darker colour palette is quite depressing but fits with the rhyme
"I'm easily bruised, I look like a used pair of shoes!" - bruised
Regarding the whole design, the features are not as interesting but I still tried to create something different in regards to the torso and legs - scruffy outfit. The bruises are also quite animated and striking.
"I'm dizzy all the time, ill soon be forgetting how to rhyme!" - dizzy
I love how I have included the birds throughout the piece as well as the small inclusion of bird poo! I wanted to capture the idea of birds and stars indicating dizziness and think that this will create connotations for the child. I also love the difference in the appearance of the eyes. Once again, I have altered the colour of the dress!
"Now my headaches...what rhymes with aches?" - headache
"I'm getting extremely hot, I don't know how much more time I've got!" - fever
Another one of my favourite designs due to how unique it is. I love how bright the colours are as well as the blending of shades. I believe this design is quite different in comparison to the other designs, making it stand out more.
"Now my days are over, I really have to say, to always have an x-ray, it's safer that way!" - death
Very happy with the consistency of this design as throughout the head, torso and legs, there are x-ray versions of Marie Curie - further educating the reader on Marie Curie, her life and accomplishments. I feel like a child would love this design as well due to how unique it is as well as the color palette used. I am also happy with the presentation of the skull itself as this design does not come across as scary and intimidating, but instead, is quite friendly and approachable.
