Storyboard task

Storyboard task

Today, Matt told us about the importance of storyboarding and how it is essential for animation. He went through different camera shots and angles as well as showing us a video which explains these in an interesting way.

To help our understanding on conveying meaning and speaking directly to the audience - not confusing them with random camera angles, Matt provided us with a task. In this task, he gave us each a random word which we had to create a storyboard.

The word I got was: CRAFTY

At first I had no idea what to do! It felt like such a tedious word as all the ideas I had were very precise. This is when I thought about the setting and what I would expect if someone was showing me the word 'crafty' in a short movie.

I decided to plan my storyboard in a primary school where personally for me, had all the memories regarding crafts. I focused on different camera shots and the different materials used - which then combined together to create a final product. I also made use of annotation which described which camera angles. I used camera angles such as panning and closeups!

Here is my finished storyboard:

I am very happy with the turnout of this! The colour use helped the audience understand what they were looking at as well as making the piece more lively. I think I did really well for my first storyboard and will keep this in mind for the animation module. Matt did say I could probably include more interesting camera angles which I will definitely think about! I just thought it would be interesting to have different focus points. I definitely found this session helpful and enjoyable.
